Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
1. Introduction
AES Tech AB ("we," "our," or "us"), organization number 559507-2157, operates the Exile Companion mobile application ("the App").
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle user data when you use the App.
2. Data Collection and Processing
We take user privacy seriously and have designed our App with a minimal data collection approach:
- We do not collect, store, or share any personal data for marketing or profiling purposes.
- All image processing occurs entirely on your device for most languages.
- The camera is only accessed when actively scanning an item.
- Images used for scanning are automatically deleted after processing.
- The App makes network requests only to the services listed below. None of them require an account, and none receive your name, email, photos or scanned images.
The App connects to:
- Path of Exile Trade API (pathofexile.com): to look up item prices. Requests contain item properties, not user data.
- Our own server (api.exilecompanion.com): see section 3.
- Sentry, for crash reports (section 4); Google Cloud Vision, only if you enable it (section 5); Google AdMob and RevenueCat (section 6).
3. Our Server
The App uses our server at api.exilecompanion.com for currency exchange data, currency flips, and the Build Planner.
- Economy data: requests only ask for market data and contain no user data.
- Build Planner: when you import a build, the Path of Building code or link you provide is sent to our server, which reads it and, when you edit a build, recalculates it with Path of Building. Builds are held in the server's memory only while they are being worked on. They are not stored in a database, and the builds you save are kept on your device.
- IP address: like any web server, ours sees the IP address of each request. It is used for rate limiting and appears in short-term server logs used to keep the service running and to prevent abuse. It is not used for advertising or profiling.
4. Crash Reporting
The App uses Sentry to automatically collect crash reports and error diagnostics. This helps us identify and fix issues. When a crash or error occurs, the following data may be sent:
- Device information: device model, operating system version, and app version.
- Error details: stack traces and error messages describing what went wrong.
- IP address: collected by Sentry's servers but not stored (used only for rate limiting).
Crash reports do not contain personal data such as names, emails, photos, or scanned item content. This data is used solely for improving app stability.
For more details on how Sentry processes data, please review Sentry's Privacy Policy.
5. Cloud Vision API
On-device text recognition does not support certain scripts (e.g., Cyrillic). For these languages, users may provide their own Google Cloud Vision API key. When Cloud Vision is enabled:
- Scanned images are temporarily sent to Google Cloud Vision API for text recognition.
- Images are processed by Google and not stored permanently by us.
- Users provide and manage their own API key — we do not have access to your key.
- This feature is opt-in and requires explicit user action to enable.
For more details on how Google processes data, please review Google Cloud Vision Data Usage.
6. Advertising, Subscriptions and Third-Party Services
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. As part of this integration:
- Google AdMob may use device identifiers for advertising purposes.
- Users in certain regions (e.g., EEA) will be prompted for consent regarding personalized ads.
- The App respects user consent and, if declined, will only serve non-personalized ads where applicable.
- On iOS, the App asks for permission before the advertising identifier can be used for tracking. If you decline, it is not shared.
- We do not provide Google or any third party with any personal data of our own, as we do not collect it.
For more details on how Google processes data, please review Google's Privacy Policy.
Optional subscriptions are processed by RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from the App Store or Google Play so the App knows what you have unlocked. Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data, we will take immediate steps to delete it.
8. Data Storage and Security
- The App does not store any personal user data on external servers.
- Item scanning happens locally on the device (except when Cloud Vision API is enabled, see section 5). Your saved builds, search history and settings are also stored on the device.
- Temporary images used for item scanning are immediately deleted after use.
- No login, account creation, or personal information is required to use the App.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with the updated "Last Updated" date. Significant changes will be communicated within the App or via our official channels.
10. Compliance with Privacy Regulations
We are committed to compliance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act), and other applicable privacy laws. The App collects only the minimal technical data described above: crash diagnostics (section 4) and the IP addresses our server sees (section 3). Users can reach out if they have any privacy concerns.
